The Big Bang Bandwagon

For years, I resisted watching the hit TV series “The Big Bang Theory” just because it didn’t seem like it was for me.  As much of a geek I am, I didn’t think watching a sitcom about nerdy guys who were socially awkward would be something I’d tune into regularly.  Even when I went to California back in August there were billboards everywhere throughout the city of Los Angeles and people on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour couldn’t stop talking about how much they love the show.  Still I resisted watching the show with all the hype and accolades.

As you could have figured out by now this all changed recently.  I woke up last week after falling asleep on the couch after dinner and it was on the channel I’d had on before I fell asleep.  I found myself laughing hysterically at the show and thought to myself I was just deliriously tired, because this program never made me laugh before.  Just to make sure I actually liked the show I watched another episode later that night and the same result happened.  I liked it.  I really liked it.

What I like mostly about this show is that it’s a traditional sitcom that anyone can enjoy.  Just like what I had growing up.  The characters are funny, the comedy is not over the top gross out humor that so many shows and movies base themselves on nowadays, and it’s the perfect show to laugh with after a long day.  Besides, I’ve fallen madly in love with Kaley Cuoco over the last week more so than before.

I guess I’m one of the last ones to join on this bandwagon of loving this show as my perception of the show has changed.  If there were any characters on TV I could relate to I guess it would be these people.   Millions of people must tune in every week for a reason I suppose.  I plan on catching up this summer just in time for the new season this fall.

In closing:  Bazinga!
